Hi, I’m Liz Scheffey.

When I discovered HypnoBirthing, I was thrilled to become certified because Marie Mongan captured a much-needed message into a powerful curriculum. This course provides exactly what women, birth partners, and babies need to thrive.

I am blessed with three grown children, two born at home and one at my local birthing center, as well as two grandchildren whose births I attended and witnessed. I value the birth experience and the time in utero for its profound implications for the baby, mother, and family.

The thoughts and actions we have towards birth really matter. Long ago, birth was considered sacred. Women were revered, lovingly supported and cared for as they did their job of birthing. Doulas and midwives attended them. How we care for our mothers and babies is a reflection of how we care for the great mystery of life.

My Classes Provide Information About:

  • How does birth work?
  • What are your birth myths?
  • How can birth be approached with gentleness?
  • How does your baby experience birth?
  • What is instinctive birth?
  • Why is prenatal and postnatal bonding so important?

You will learn special breath techniques, massage, visualizations, affirmations, self hypnosis, bonding, and more.  You and your birthing partner will have the time, space and guidance to reflect on your own beliefs about birth.

We will practice powerful tools and techniques for your birthing day. You will create your birth plan, and be sure your provider understands and supports it.

These valuable tools extend beyond your birthing day, into your parenthood journey and beyond.

My course helps you to trust your body’s wisdom to birth intuitively. It provides you with the knowledge of how to remain free of fear and tension, and to birth with confidence and joy.

More about HypnoBirthing

It is recommended you attend class between your 22-23 month of pregnancy. We highly encourage you to bring your birth partner, or someone who will be supporting you during your birthing experience because this is a class for the family.

HypnoBirthing philosophy and techniques are about bringing change to the generations of children and families who can have an opportunity to experience birth gently and respectfully.. Birth was once a revered and respected occurrence. The birth-mother was akin to Mother Earth, and she was supported and made to feel safe and honored.  She was given all that she asked for and needed in order to birth her child.  Taking care of the pregnant woman and her baby is an act of love, honor and respect for all beings.  HypnoBirthing class helps bring back the peaceful, spiritual, and sacred experience of birth.

HypnoBirthing provides answers to all the important questions and concerns around birth. It allows birthing families to examine their own acquired beliefs about birth. It supports making informed choices and decisions.

HypnoBirthing teaches self hypnosis techniques for you to use during your birth experience. The variety of tools taught bring a deep focus and relaxation, and the release of endorphins. This allows you to birth in a safe, comfortable, gentle way with dignity and respect.

“Every thought you think causes a physical reaction and an emotional response within you.”

Positive, easy, gentle and empowered birth heals the world.

The Founder

In 1989 founder Marie Mongan created this program. She wanted all women to be free of the myth that birth is a painful and dangerous medical event that requires medical intervention,. She wanted to empower women with tools and knowledge.  This evidence based program returns the natural, instinctive process of birth to the pregnant woman and her companion.

Thousands of women are using her technique, and promoting the value of positive birth. MarienMongan passed away in June of 2019.
